What are the odds of getting more work?
I went into north London this afternoon to put a socket in mother-in-laws garden. It's about 45minute drive one way. Then she said that a family member wanted a light fitting looked at. He didn't realise I was an electrician and has apparently already had two out to look at it (a brass 3 spot BC thing), one of the lights refuses to work.
So anyway, I popped in on my way home and stripped it down and fixed it for them, I had no intention on charging TBH as these guys have already had two sparks look at it (although I was the first to take it off the ceiling
) and they are a deer couple at 98 and 95 years old.
However as I left he put £20 in my hand, for about 25 minutes. He could have put a worthers original in my hand, I would have been just as happy.
This, however, is only because I had already charged mother in law £150 for my time and travel.
But back to your situation, sometimes rounding your hours down is a great way to impress clients and get more work, but obviously you have to make sure you cover yourself and overheads bare minimum.
