Hi guys, looking to extend a ring in our home in surface trunking as LL won't allow chasing etc.

What I want to do it replace the existing Knockout box mounted socket with a surface mount box (compatible with MT2) and run it along the skirting to behind the sofa.

I've worked out the length of trunking and that I need flat bends and tees but am tripping over the backbox.

Anyone point me in the right direction? Ideally want to get it all from the same place; got Screwfix, Toolstation, CEF, YESS, T N Robinson nearby, trying to avoid web order for delivery.

Any help and guidance?

leave the existing socket and box as is. dig a cablee into the back box and then into your trunking.

You want to replace a recessed socket with a surface mounted socket in order to run trunking from it?

If that's the case and they are both double sockets then just drill out the accessory screw holes on the surface box and you'll find it lines up nicely with the recessed box. If its a single recessed back box then it's even easier. Just drill holes in the surface box that line up with the recessed box.

I was thinking something like that but all you'll have holding the backbox are just long accessory M3.5 screws no? Take the faceplate off and the surface box will just fall off, or am I missing something?
