Discuss Mira, Triton, Aqualisa electric shower repairs in the Australia area at ElectriciansForums.net

Its certainly seen as a throw away appliance much the same as a freezer etc nowadays

If the repair can save the customer a lot of money then its worthwhile, however to do that puts a low ceiling on your profit for those repairs compared to a straight swap
So my view would be yes its better to renew them than change them

I strive to offer repairs to electric showers in the Brighton and Hove area but find that it is better economics to replace.

Is this a general view?

Plumbing and Electric Shower Repairs in Brighton and Hove
Plumbers in Brighton and Hove - all plumbing work carried out.

Yes it is, an 'engine' for a shower can cost ÂŁ80.00 while a new complete shower with brand spanking attachments can be had for less than ÂŁ100!

We check connections etc. on all shower jobs but after that, we replace.

I just check the connections etc and the thermal cutout is belling out. If they are all fine I tell them it needs replaced. The ones with circuit boards in them are a definite repacment job.

Can't answer yours but request info. on best shower to install in old cottage with oil-fired system ie. NOT a combi so requires me to heat a large immersion heater just to get a shower unless I get an electric one installed. Are Triton the best? How much can I expect to pay including plumbing through wall to kitchen next door roughly, as I do understand job would first need to be seen by installer. Unfortunately I'm in Suffolk, so too far away for many on this forum! Perhaps there is somebody nearer? I live in Stowmarket area not far from Wattisham air base if that helps. About 20 miles from Ipswich, 15 from Bury St. Edmunds. Thanks

Well this has certainly sparked a little debate, however I'm pretty sure this is just a ploy to get his website advertised!

In the spirit of things, though, yep, I reckon you'd have to be mental to try and repair, you can get a replacement for sixty bucks and then you've got all that lovelyu old copper in the old model to scrap!

Same here, I have never repaired a shower - nearly always it is a water leak, or the water won't turn off fully, the parts are ÂŁ50ish, whereas you can get a brand new 8.5kw for ÂŁ60-70.
I always tell the customer that if one part has worn out, there are bound to be other things going too, so it is not worth repairing.
Alan.

i agree with everyone else its not economical to repair electric showers, just replace if your doing the plumbing as well some miras are lh connect but check first triton were doing a base plate were you could extend cables/plumbing dear but gets you out of trouble dont know if its still available though
