If the missing malasyan plane had been earthed to a TT spike by a 10,000 mile long wonderlead as is recommended by D.Cockburn's new publication 'A Guide to Earthing in Aviation' , then it would have been possible to trace it by following the lead.
Mr Cockburn could have a point

I'm part way between thinking this is funny, or that it's in bad taste. Daz

How on earth in this day and age do you lose a plane. There is something where not being told, what good is a black box if it doesn't work under water.
I feel for the family and friends of the lost crew and passengers must be terible the not knowing.

The black box will work, it just may not be found. There have been plane crashes before where it has been years before the black box has been found. Or rather, the orange box. Daz

I'm not undecided, I think it's funny. The OP's joke is definitely making fun of DW Cockburn in the most and not the tragic loss of hundreds of people on an aeroplane.

On balance I agree.

sounds more like a hijacking if that's the case. what's the betting old jag lover's got it in Oz, stripping it down for a drag racer.

One possible scenario for the Facts that we know is that the Aircraft could have suffered decompression at altitude and the pilots, or everyone on board, could have become incapacitated. If this were to happen the plane could fly, on automatic pilot, until it ran out of fuel and crashed. It could be thousands of miles away from it's last reported position, and depending on where it crashed, it may never be found.
