Mistake in Best Practice Guide No4 EICR

Hi Guys
On page 17 of this document, there is the following statement followed by examples.

Amendment 1 to BS7671:2008 no longer requires departures from the requirements of the current edition of BS7671 that do not give rise to danger or require improvement to be included in condition reports.

In the list is 'Inadequate number of socket-outlets. (Code C3 or, where appropriate C2................)'

Has this item been put in the list by mistake?

Also do any of you put in observations that have no code? It seems that you're not meant to.

Hi Pete,
We list this defect where there is an over-reliance on extension leads/multi plugs.
You can include any defect that you as the inspector consider needs to be listed, often these items are best included in a covering letter (items such as lack of smoke/heat detectors etc.).

There has been no change in the requirements for reporting departures, from the requirements in both the pre-amendment 17th and 16th editions.
We have been required to record any damage, deterioration, defects, dangerous conditions and non-compliance with the Regulations that may give rise to danger since (to my knowledge) 1991. It would appear that the NICEIC/ESC have only just cottoned on to this, better late than never?

No, I got your point if you see an installation that is supplemented by extension leads/multiplugs, some of which could be overloaded etc. then you as the inspector need to record that situation as a defect.
The origin of the problem would be the insufficient provision of socket outlets.

On a recent Local Authority inspection, I took this pic, there were 16 multi-plug extensions in this house, hanging from ceilings, taped round door frames etc. some were melted and blackened-the worst I've ever seen!

She got sick of repalcing the batteries so I bought her a petrol one!! lol. Maybe the multi plugs were to charge her nose/?????? trimmers. Well I better go to bed now, I can here funny noises upstairs, rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. lol
