Guys,

has anybody installed the mk grid switches in a kitchen i.e the switches that say , freezer, fridge, washing machine, tumble dryer etc. Are these any good do they save putting in loads of switched fused spurs for each appliance. Do you just run this off of a ring and then one cable from each switch to appliance.
not installed them before put am thinking of doing so for next job let me know what u think. also what size cable would you use 2.5 ?

cheers

have come across a few burnt out ones, not MK. though. don't like the idea at all. first, you will have trouble if using more than 2 switches, simply because of the amount of cables in the switch box. second, it's like putting all eggs in one basket. outgoing cables might have to go halfway round kitchen to reach appliance outlets. i would stick to separate D/P swsitches. third, you are coming off one point on the ring to feed maybe 4 appliances unless you pull 4 legs down. cramped or what?

I have just finished a kitchen where i put 4 appliances on a mk grid

It is a potch getting the yoke to sit right for the faceplate to be neat, and unless you use an extra deep box, terminating could be a squeeze
Having said that I used that system reluctantly for all the very same reasons given by Telectrix

Ii use them only if I have to

Would only use a multi gang grid switch if it was a commercial kitchen in my opinion then I would use contactors to stop the switches burning out. But if you go down this route it is expensive.

At some point, all sewage pumps will fail, or need extensive maintenance. I make it quite clear that I'm not interested in either.

Click grid pro is by far the easiest one I've fitted. Schneider by far the worst
