Hi guys, looking for an mcb that fits an old mk board. The breaker that's in just now is LN5920. I don't have time to order and wait for a second hand one, does anyone know of a breaker that will fit? Customer is having a hot tub delivered on Thursday and company won't install unless there's a dedicated 20a supply, they only phones me tonight!

MK used to make a retrofit kit to install their current range of MCBs into those boards, ask your wholesaler if they have any in stock.
I assume you've tried your local wholesalers for the correct MCBs for it?

Control Gear are virtually identical, any from the MK Sentry range.(LN's are the Sentry range)
Niglon are not too far off, along with Hager which are much the same as Niglon, but the bus bar is around 2 mm further forward.
Wylex may fit, but they are slightly higher, so wont be a very good fit.

Word to the wise pcam...

If you do retrofit a different brand into a board and the dimensions are slightly different like the terminal height for the busbar pin then you may find that you overstress components of the consumer unit or mcb, this in time can lead to the fitted device failing or other devices in the board if not damage to the structural integrity of the board.
The internal switching components of an mcb are spring loaded and balanced for tripping purposes and should work fine when fitted to the correct board but when you apply too much external stress to the terminals this can affect the working mechanics of the device rendering it useless if not burning it out, been a mm or so out when mounting on the Din rail and clamping down can lead to large stress point within the device.

Try not the let the cart lead the horse here, they have contacted you at the last minute, not given you enough time to source correct parts so best just tell them straight and offer the alternatives if they want this hot-tub commisioned so soon, the ball is their court then and your not flapping your wings trying to achieve the impossible.

They do sell these 1967 MK LN5920 on ebay, sadly post is post and the only way you will get it maybe sooner is asking around Glasgow if any one has it to hand, but i think the reply time will be about the same as clicking it on ebay and buying a 2nd hand one.

You can buy a kit, our dad did one for the shower years ago. but it didnt hook up the buzz back but had a dam big cable in red goin to it from the buzbar (45A)
