MK sentry consumer unit - knockouts ... not!

Hello,

I wonder whether anyone can advise ... I'm having *serious* problems punching out the 22mm knockouts on a 16way metal surface mount MK Sentry consumer unit. I'm using my normal method (!) (a hammer and punch) to the side of the knockout furthest away from the spot weld but the box is simply deforming rather than the knockout detaching. I've even tried drilling one of them but it still won't budge.

Any hints?? Or am I just in the wrong job

maybe badly pressed when made, so you can always drill it

drill it out with a holesaw mate. i use my big driver for knockouts usually, or a 10/12mm sds bit.

OK thanks I'll have a go with a holesaw. I tried with a big screwdriver too but the box just deformed

try a cone cutter.

Yep, decent step drill or try a bolster (but make sure it has a decent hand guard).

Try punching it from both inside the case,and outside....sometimes they will only knock out one way.
