Why if, line and neutral and line and earth are the same voltage do i need to do an rcd/rcbo tripping time. Why do I have to test others equipment? Why will the test button not suffice? Added, I can walk off site all tested ok, and 10 mins later a 'carpenter' can nail an earth wire and cut clean though.

Ahhh more money for test equipment...i get it now, forget the joiner

why don't they insist on load testing, for instance waiting to see how long it takes to trip a 6A breaker when loaded with 8 amps or whatever....wow that would even better ca-ching

wont be long...if a rewirable fuse I may have to wait 6 months ...ca-ching -;)

Never heard of disconnection times?
Why would the Earth be at the same voltage as live?

In: its nominal rating
I1: its non-fusing/non-tripping current.
I2: its fusing/tripping current.

the test button will not surfice as a test as it does not tell you that the rcd is tripping within the required time. I have seen test buttons work but yet the rcd to be faulty
