Hello everyone,
Let me preface by admitting that I'm not a professional electrician. My apologies if I'm intruding, but I didn't know where else to go to answer this question. That being said, I'm curious to know if it's possible to modify/convert an appliance that was before only 110v/60Hz to be a 110v-240v/50Hz-60Hz compatible appliance (sans step-up/step-down external converter).
My wife and I just moved overseas and are somewhat frustrated by the amount of our high-end appliances and electronics that are only 110v/60Hz (stereo, new DVD player, Kitchen appliances) while many of our "cheaper" appliances and electronics are dual-voltage and 50Hz-60hz (cheap $10 DVD player, cell-phone charger, etc).
Mainly I'm just curious if this is even possible to do in the first place and if it is, how easily it could be done.
