in your kit - what is it?

For me, Roll of insulation tape, could be the only tool that is hardly ever used for the purpose for which is was intended.

But it has sooooooooo many uses, from keeping your pants up when the button flies off, fixing glasses, performing first aid, decorating your hard hat, holding drawings on the wall, lost count of the number of things it's been used for.....

What can match that kind of versatility

Nothing........!

What do you use your's for?

Stanley knife. Actually made by Draper.
Used for cutting insulation tape, opening boxes, deburring plastic, stripping cable, peeling off labels, and several other things.
Goes hand in hand with a roll of insulation tape, partly for patching up my fingers when they've been cut by the aforementioned.

Ah but .......... you can use the insulation tape for holding the two halves of your Stanley together when you've lost the screw.

Yellow insulation tape makes a very good cable label. Some prefer white, but I think yellow is more highly visible, especially when using LSF T&E.

great for fishing out the cable that some painter has pushed up into the downlights holes. El Gito's

Now you come to mention it, raided many a wardrobe for a wire hanger for exactly that purpose, straighten it out, tape it to a length of 10mm conduit and it's the business for adding down lights in escayola ceilings. Yet another use for tape.

insulation tape is great for putting on cuts too.....saves a walk to the first aid point on large sites

The same as , wrap the first bit around on its back and then you don't get the glue in the cut/missing finger stump !
Having said that , i copped a proper b""""""ing once of another sparks on site when he saw me using it for a bandage ! He reckoned it was highly carcinogenic and was the next asbestos ?
