I'm just after some advice really!

My apprentice has snapped off the thread for V1 in the motor connection box, the motor is wired in Delta. Would it be ok to put L2 and both the motor leads on to U2? Only reason i ask is because they are linked anyway and can't seem to find a reason why it can't be done!

Thanks for your help!

Mark

You probably could bunch them all up under one termination but if you dismount the termination block you can often just replace the bolt if it's been sheared off, this would be the preferable way to fix it.

and give the apprentice a smaller wrench.....

The amount of broken blocks I come across because some wobbly handed oik has had a socket with a ratchet on to tighten motor terminals..best use a t bar or my weapon of choice is the good old box spanner...sneaks in where sockets cannot go..me being old school and all that :rolleyes2:
finger and thumb on the t bar is fine for anything up to an 8mm stud (often see stretched threads on the larger brass ones where some have gorillared them tight.
Better still for the pedant, use a screwdriver type torque wrench and take note of the manufactures recommended..
Check the nuts under the links that secure the internal motor leads too as they are nearly always loose and are very often a failure point !

FTR the old bakelite/paxilon mounts were far better than the "chewing gum plastic that they are fitting now to the likes of VEM motors which have probably about 5mm of plastic to retain a 10mm stud..not very inspiring in my world :)
