I have a yamaha FZS600 wiring loom which I am in the middle of modifying.

Can someone tell me what the neutral wire on the CDI is for, or more to point, is it a signal in or out and if I leave it disconnected will the engine run (I've removed the safety cut out relay)

Hi dude,that's a bit of a random question,without seeing a diagram...is the safety cut-out,a rev limiter?

By neutral,do you mean ground? If so,it should be left in position. What you modding it for? I hope it's a driven front wheel,handle-bar mounted rear brake wheelie machine...:winkiss:

Hi,just glanced at your other post, and a 15 minute yee-har on me pals EXUP,has got me all bike-happy...so...

Had a look at the wiring diagram, and the cut-out is on the start circuit, and is initiated depending on clutch/side-stand etc.

Of course,i cannot condone the by-passing of an important safety feature...

But,if someone was that determined, they could bridge the two switched wires, remove the relay, and the starter would work whenever you needed it...just like they did, back in the day :jester:

Unfortunately its not that simple, the wiring loom is down to ignition and charge only. No light circuit, fuel pump or cooling fan (trust me I've looked into the fan and pump and the bike will run fine, just need to stop for fuel more often and not sit all day in traffic)

I think running a separate loom for the starter will simplify things, think diodes will be required if not (concerned I'll send 12v in to the cdi when it should 12v out) and finding out could be an expensive lesson

Thanks for the reply and don't panic I'm used to pulling in the clutch and raising the stand before moving off

Hi bud,not had another look at the diagram, but i would imagine the diodes are to prevent back-feeds,from several signals, all connected to the same point.

I other words,if you remove these signal feeds,ie the side-stand and clutch switch, etc, you should be in business.

I did this "re-jigging",of factory fitted prevention devices,as a kid,on me pals' dads' diesel Sherpa van, which came with an optional "splitter" on third and forth gear.

My efforts resulted in being able to split every gear, and have an "eight speed" van, when 5 speed, was considered fancy
