Hi all,

I've been following this forum closely for a few weeks and thanks to the knowledgable contributions and links i pretty much have my head around the site evaluation, electrical connections, regs etc. The thing that is holding me back from ordering the system for my MCS accreditaion is the mounting system.

It's all completely foreign to me... has anyone found a good resource for planning and installing the mountings? There seems to be endless numbers of options of bits and pieces. All of which seem over engineered and massively overpriced!

My intention is to use a cruciform rail to minimise hassle for the first job. Either 1 row of 10 or 2 rows of 5 as roof space is not critical, rafters are 600mm apart and panels are roughly 1000mm by 1600mm. Any comments or advice would be much appreciated...

One of our first steps last year was to pay a visit to a couple of suppliers. It gave us the opportunity to have a look at the product in the flesh. We bought some sample mounting brackets etc and use these still today to find a suitable bracket for each and every roof type.

As for over engineered and massively priced....Welcome to our world! Our building regulations play a big part in what is what amd hence the reason why is all as it is.

Talk to the guys yo are planning to order your system from. They should have all the information you need.

Good luck and keep posting.

Just buy a Garmin, turn it on & go........that's what i got & it works for me.......

Cheers for the tip kentop2, good luck with that...

Regarding this thread, my wholesaler is online and did have a kit which is normally supplied free with a course, it's not listed as an item for sale. We skipped the course as we're miles away and acquired the kit. Cheers again for the tip...
