Hi iv got a client who wants to move the supply cutout and meter to an outside wall, it is currently inside an extension, but they now want to knock this wall down. They are with EON but are having no luck contacting them to get info. Does anyone know roughly how long it takes for a supply authority to move a supply cable and meter etc. I asked another spark and he think 6-8 weeks but he's not sure. Also the supply cable runs directly under where the client wants the meter moved too, but am i right in thinking they would still want to replace the the whole of the cable afk to the road, or would they pull it back to the outside wall and use the same cable. Also i know this sint our area but does anyone know any rough prices tht it might cost? Thanks.

Not sure buddy where is the area ? most supply cables/cut outs & meters are owned by SSE (scottish & southern energy) old southern electric in my area worth checking with them ! there is a link on here with contact numbers etc i know when i was on metering they owned most meters and other companies rented them from SSE.

That would be Western Power then wouldn't it? They'll want to come out look, think, then put the customer in "zero shock", that's the technical name for a scare created by looking at a string of zeros after a number!

It should only be a few hundred quid, and it depends what they're up to as to when it would be done, can be hours, days, or weeks.

Keep in mind that the DNO and meter owner (Co suppling/charging for the elec) are not necessarily one and the same.

Doubt very much the DNO will want to replace the supply cable if it's in acceptable nick.

Regards.

They will send you a move meter pack. You then send them drawings and work out the cost (you'd better be right BTW) and don't forget to include a cheque for the full and correct amount with your completed return. They'll then contact you (at their leisure) with a date to do the job. I say to be right with the costings and cheque because if you're wrong when they turn up they'll go away again and charge you for the priviledge.
Also allow at least 6-8 weeks from them receiving the completed info and cheque.
Don't expect someone to come out and look at the job, or be at all helpfull, that's not their remit.
