Moving a thromostat

thats what the heating engineer said... it near the front door... which is acturally seems to far away from the main area of the hall... got to remember the hall only as a smaller single rad also.... from what i guess as long as its not near a radiator or door you can have it anywhere... he was suprised as it next to front door and not really in the main area.... i dont think it works... like i said if reading low it will never turn off?

to add to that i came in the flat a few times and central heating was runner... mesuring 0... at the time it was v cold bet not freezing inside? it might be just me bieng a worrier... but never seemed right from day one.

heating guys says jusr live with it its and on/off switch...

Hi the stat is sort of wired wrong!!! Most modern stats need a neutral to work accuratly all you have is 2 wires so basicaly you are just switching a timed live! Aaron

Not always on this one mate the drayton stats can work on 2 wire and do not need a neutral probable cause of it not switching off is the area is cold so the way to check it is to turn the stat down and see if it goes off

I hope there isn't a thermostatic rad valve on the hall radiator? If there is, make sure its turned up to max or remove the head.
Very basic I know but I've seen it happen!

If it is turned up to max then the room would be hot and the thermostat would not operate the boiler/pump as it is telling it the room is at the correct temp.

Could also be an airlock in the pipework thus hot water not gettig around system

Why couldn't you just turn the roomstat down a couple of degrees and monitored temps, so that if you want say 20 degrees In living room you could turn the stat down to 18 degrees and check temps in living room. Then adjust accordingly.

I hope this makes sense.

I wouldn't have put the roomstat beside the front door in the first place.
