Hi. I have to move a consumer unit down 30cm for logistical reasons. I have been told it's ok to crimp and extend the 10 cables. Is this the case/ best method? They don't want the circuits rewired to avoid chasing new cable runs etc. Do the crimps need to be bs rated, soldered or heat shrink? :confused:

As above really, although you could always put the joints in a PVC adaptable box with a short length of maybe 2x2 trunking down to the new CU position.

Seen this done before using an adaptable box, din rail and din rail terminals.

Looked a much neater job and your connections remain accessible
