Hi all , A guy is having a new extension done in his house and wants the old CU removed and replaced in a different location 10 meters away , my question is should I make the old tails off into a 9x9 addaptable box withe dim rail connectors and then back to the new CU or through crimp the old tails ( because you only need access to screw connections ) and bury them in the wall , all cicuits will be RCBO protected, Sorry I should have said ,the old tails from the old circuits , EDF will move the head to wher the new CU will be placed ,

I would put the existing tails into a switchfuse and then use s.w.a. as a submain from the switchfuse to the new consumer unit location.

Are you rewiring the extension only or the whole house ? If its the extension only then an adaptable box could prove the way for getting the old existing circuits extended to the new consumer unit location

Just the extension but maybe pick u the livingroom lighting circuit to feed a new toilet , the old Cu is in the livingroom so being an addatable box it would need some kind of accsess, when it is all finnished it will be decorated clean lines very modern with a crap door for the accsess for ad/box
