I live in a 3 bedroom victorian terraced

Massive cellar that is soon to be converted from damp, empty space to habitable space (Tanking, steel/ remove walls, lowering and screed floors)

Tanking method will be clean/ point brickwork, attatch damp proof membrane to walls then build a block wall all around against it, on top of the 'lip' of the new lowered floor (which is raised at the edges to resist lateral pressure of walls) and then a flush stud wall

Only issue is the leccy meter is on the wall down there - DNO have quoted ÂŁ800 to move it upstairs BUT can only put it in a box outside (Dont really want to do that - vandals/ looks ugly etc)

Would there be any issues with moving the meter/ intake forward onto the block wall (About 1 foot) ie

Are you allowed to temporarily move a meter to maintain a wall it rests on?

Im not an electrician btw

Not sure what you are planning with regards to the meter or wall, but I wouldnt start messing about with the meter or cutout at all. Its a very big fuse on the other end of it, and the cables arent that flexible. If its fixed to a board, your sparky could maybe release this off the wall, but thats about all I'd be prepared to do (I am a big girl when it comes to anything bigger than a 100 amp fuse though:D).

Unfortunately only the DNO can move the meter….

So if they say it can only be moved to a box outside, I’m afraid (to my limited knowledge) that’s it.

Cheers Jim

Also welcome aboard

Jims right the meter cut out ect is all the responsibility of the DNO and if you decide to move it yourself and things go wrong the ÂŁ800.00 will be chicken feed to put it right and then the DNO may decide to prosecute for unlawfull tamering with their equipment.
