I recently purchased a dartboard cabinet that has an above lighting area with an MR16 bulb, but no wiring. I purchased a new 7w led MR16 bulb, an Aluminum faced Miniature Bi-Pin socket (where the bulb connects to), and a lamp cord with rotary switch. When everything came, I connected the wires, plugged it in, switched the rotary dial to “on”, then heard a “pop”. The rotary switch had burn marks and my breaker was tripped. I thought it was a defective cord, so I got another one and the same thing happened. Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong? Thanks.

At least over here in the UK, an MR16 lamp (bulb) would likely be rated at 12V and used with a transformer. And applying mains voltage could well be expected to cause a pop, burn marks and a breaker tripping.

That is 24VDC output, I suspect your lamps are 12V?

Yea, my bulb is 12v. Will one of these work than?
