Hi GUys

Does anyone know of a MR16 testfitting. I have the Kewtech bayonet and GU10 ones but I can't find one for the 12 volt bulbs.
It occured to me that I could speed up my testing of the SELV if I could insulation test between the bulb and the earth available in the switch to verify the "separated" part of the IR.

Thanks
Laurie
P.S. the bulbs are always called mr16 but the pinout is actually "GU5.3", don't know if that helps.

Why would you need to do this?
Surely the lamp is connected through a 12v transformer. That transformer may have an earth connection, but this will not connect to anything internally in the transformer. Therefore no earth connection to the lampholder, ergo separated extra low voltage.

Have to say I have never carried out this test and have never heard of anyone carrying it out on standard 12v lighting.

612.4......612.4.1

As I said above....never ever heard of anyone actually doing it.

I don't know of any sparks who go that far on a selv circuit/ fitting. There are IR tests you can perform across the transformer to verify earth separation but i seriously doubt many would actually perform these especially if it involves pulling down 12v spotlights and making a dogs dinner of the expensive decor.

Exactly - but what I realised was that if you had a "dummy bulb" you could just take out a bulb and test between the two bulb pins and the earth that you could access in the switch.
