how do you use a multimeter to find the switch wire if you have 3 black wires which arent identified with tape

you not got a simple mains tester...... would be easier

He obviously isn't an electrician and you're suggesting he tests the wiring LIVE!!!!!

He shouldn't be doing it at all if unsure.

replacing normal halogen light unit with ceiling rose. got 3 sets of cables but 3 blacks arent identified and cant get into loft to see where wires go so thought u cud identify switch wire with a multimeter

If your unsure mabe you shouldnt be trying to sort this but here goes. My fellow sparks may not recomend this but i've tried swich of the mains and i mean all of it, the whole house that is. .............sorry m8 think this is gonna get silly for ya and im gonna get it the neck.
