Hi all

I was made unimployed on augast 27th and i am looking to do some training with the help of the Job centre. My 2391 is going to be starting hopefully in the next 2 months and have been wondering what is it going to in tail, Does anyone know?.

I have also been trying to get info on anouther two things involved with training and being a better professional electrician, one is Rope access and the other is for my Airside Clearence pass, i now both would help me secure a job alot easer, does anyone now how to get these.

Thanks to all for any help :D

The 2391-10 is quite an intensive course. It will give you a full perspective on Inspection and Testing on both initial verification and PIR. Whereas the 2392 is basically for Initial Verification.

You will need to know the BS 7671-2008 and the GN 3 really well, and as the exam is not open book the better you know these the better you will do.

There is a practical test as well. This is normally a test rig with a 3 phase board with final circuits off it and a motor switch, Then a sub main to a single phase board with final circuits off them, you will do a PIR for these.

There are also other rigs for visual inspection that as about 12 faults pretty basic, and then 2 rigs for fault finding.

A good book to get is this

Practical Guide to Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations: Conforms to 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations BS 7671:2008 and Part P of Building Regulations: Amazon.co.uk: Christopher Kitcher: Books

It's been a while since I did my 2391-10 so if anything as changed I'm sure the other lads will put me right.

Good luck with this

Think he is practicing due to him saying "being a better professional". I've also seen his welcome thread which he says that he has looked on other web sites over the past 4 years but they were not very helpful, so he sounds like a good new comer. Welcome along bear, have fun asking these lot all your questions and good luck with the 2391. I've just seen your interests and you play golf. Brill, get signed up for the charity golf day for next spring. Find it in chit chat sticky forum.
