Mystery wiring - seen anything like this before?

Hands up, I'm just a domestic spark, but the gym where I train wants to put in a boxing ring and these are in the way. The cable is sheathed and I haven't taken the whole thing to bits but I've never seen anything like these twenty terminations. Apparently the building, which is on a racecourse, used to be the bookies so I'm wondering if this is some sort of communication wiring from the track?

Anyone know what it is? (There's no voltage on any of the terminals atm). Ideally the manager would like to disconnect them.

Probably old Telex lines for getting race results in from all over the country.

Race results are done by Satelite links nowadays I believe.

Rip them out but keep the 3 terminal blocks,(not the one on the left) an old Telephony Geek may want them.

Just a guess but the one marked Silver may refer to Silver Ring which is a public enclosure at a racecourse. But as the others say rip ot out, odds on! it is long redundant.
