Can anyone who is with napit give me any of advice on what to expect from the assement please.

Not with NAPIT mate but they are all basically the same know your safe isolation, testing and inspection of by heart as for the rest you are not expected to know it but you are expected to know where to find it. Dont waffle and ask questions yourself.

Good luck on your assessment and I hope a NAPIT member will give you more

Hi ggf

I am full scope with napit

safe isolation is a must lock off before you go any where near the open board !! dont forget the incomers are still live

dead test 1st ( they will pick a circuit for you to do)

insulation resistance of circuit ( make sure all lamps out dimmers ect )

they may ask you to do zs but its unlikely to be done on a circuit other than a socket circuit where you plug in from test meter

ze at bord

pfc at board

psc at board

rcd test at board or plug in socket on ring final

work out your zs readings using zs =ze +(r1+r2) it is acceptable to work out zs by calculations means less live working dont forget to use the factor of 0.8 on measured reading

know your regs ( max disconnection times rcds mcbs ect ) use 7671 regs book thats whats its for

know your eathings ( tt,tnc.s tn,s ) and max ze for these

take your time !!! just remember work safe they are not out to get you just to make sure you are competent at what you are doing and above all enjoy it after all they are only human

assesment normallytakes a morning 3-4 hours !!

ps

tea and biscuits are a must (( good luck mate ))

hi ggf

i'm full scope with napit n i'd agree with your other posts safe isolation is top of the list with ya general testing knowledge.
i didn't have to test anything had everything out n ready but guy just quizzed me for a while..

he was quite helpful as well, they'll nudge you in the right direction if you stumble, nothing to worry about bud you'll be fine.
dont forget to take your C & G certificates, tester calibration records, complaints book (????),regs books etc, the guy checked n ticked off all paperwork.

good luck mate, update us all WHEN you pass.

Thank you lads for the advice i will let you know how it goes. I hate exams and assessments i forget my mind and everything that i know leaves my brain

its a tricky one and never had any probs but dont think i could just stand there while someone assumes he knows more than me and tries to explain how/what im doing. I disagree totally with assesments but as said the inspectors ive always had have been great and think they can tell in the first few minutes wether you know or are struggling

didint mean this to sound arrogant but find it a lot when build inspectors, dno, labc guys always seeming to talk down to you as though youre a numpty.

Do they ask to see Instrument accuracy logs. as i have been looking at check boxes and the meggar mbt7671 is £280.00

work out your zs readings using zs =ze +(r1+r2) it is acceptable to work out zs by calculations means less live working dont forget to use the factor of 0.8 on measured reading

having a dippy moment. when i measure the zs of a circuit do always x 0.8 to correct that reading and then use that figure at temp

use factor of 0.8 only on measured reading ( using meter) it will drop the value of zs when doing by calculation do not use factor o.8 just record what the maths tell you

That's what I thought, I was questionin myself. So if my measured value is 0.23 I would use 0.23*0.8=0.18 and record 0.23

yes that is correct you use factor of 0.8 to allow for ambient temprature of the cables you only zs x 0.8 on measured readings ( using test equipment ) not buy calculations record what your meter reads at time of test on your schedule of test results
