Can you tell me on an assessment to join napit what the assessor wants you to show him. I've
just replaced a consumer unit in my property ready for the assessment. he will presumably want me to show him all the testing procedure involved, and filling out of an electrical installation certificate.schedule of inspection and a schedule of test documents

What sort of question do these people asked when assessing you. Should i remove light fitting for easy of testing etc.As i have no lighting pendants in this house there mainly wall lights, down lighters, fluorescent fittings and spots.

They are not there to trip you up, but they will discover wether or not you are experienced --or not.
I take it for granted that you have current callibration certs for all testers,
------------ "----------------"---------- public liability insurance
-----------"-----------------"----------- public indemnity insurance
----------"-----------------"------------ HSE doc's,7671 regs, GN3, Part P docs, complaints procedure, qualifications.

Asking technical questions and seeing how you work may be what is required.. good look.:D

Thanks for replying trix I sent in copies of certs calibration cert, copies of public liability havn't got a complain form whats that and where can i get a copy? Also don't have indemnity insurance.

If you carry out installation work you will reqire insurance for things like drilling through a gas or water pipe possibly incurrring high £, or allowing a customer to break a leg by leaving floor boards up etc.
This is public liabilitgy and by law you are required to cover your backside, rather like having car insurance.

If you install say a fire allarm and it does not work when it was supposed to ( i.e. hotel fire ) ( failure to perform ) or you give bad advice for a pir and someone gets injured, it's here where public indemnity may save your assets.

There is a lot more to it than this as you can imagine, and it is not a choice just from napit, niceic etc.
Just hope you never have to use thier services as we all know what insurance companys are like :D
