Hi
already a Napit member for electrical. But are any of you members with napit for solar. And if you are what's the process like compared to electrical?
What regs etc do they expect you to have, take it I will need better insurance to cover to roof work side of things.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Paul

I am with Napit for both. The assessor for me is the same, but the process for the MCS side seems rather more ----. It is as much of a test for the assessor to see and record all the evidence and then have a sample reviewed by Napit as it is for me to produce that evidence. Basically, every requirement in the MCS document(s) are gone through and evidence of compliance required. There are other threads I think on summarising books required etc. There are also firms that will guide you through the process. Napit will offer you a draft/outline QMS, but as they are the ones assessing you they cannot give you detailed help completing it. Napit Insurance will offer you suitable insurance cover - there is more to it than simple electrical work.

If you have had no involvement with mcs solar to date then I suggest it is a bold decision to risk the time and money involved in becoming accredited today.

As a ex solar installer even though we are still being offered guaranteed solar work if we want it i think i can say Bruce has given the best answer possible .

Don't rush in !

I'm with NAPIT for both, just passed our annual review with no non conforms, but its game of hoop jumping, unlike CPS, MCS is a documented procedure = hours spent doing paperwork. search the forum for more info - there's loads of threads on this subject.
