hi need some help had a look at a job today to but 4 down lights in a bed room of couse fire rated the only proble i can see is that the lights are not on a rcd and it is not a split load board and the customer does not want to pay extr for a new board or to have a rcd any going to do a minor works would it be ok just to note this down as he dont want it done
 
fit lights, take cash never be seen again!!


on other hand,

fit lights, fill in MW cert, in boxy job just do as you said record your finndings and recomend that an RCD is fitted to upgrade the installation!

end job sign form , take cash

thanks steve thats what i though will just make a note on the mw cert that way its coverd
 
In effect, you are not touching any cables in the wall so the RCD requirement is non existent in this case.

If you were moving a switch then yes, you would have to RCD your work. Somehow.
