Need advice on changing the plug on my welding machine

Hi everyone hopefully someone on her can offer sound advice on an issue, im a welder by trade and have just purchased my first welding machine for home use, the power supply is rated at 16 A and the plug is a two pin moulded plug ive looked everywhere and even contacted manufacture and they said just cut plug off and wire 13 A three pin plug im unsure of this as it dosnt seen correct what issues could I face using a 16A rate machine on a 13A plug. Thanks

Having said that most Mig welders , if it is a mig , run quite happily on a 13amp plug in most small workshops . My mate has a 130amp mig in the garage workshop used daily with no problems.
The manufacturer would not tell you that if they thought they would have a comeback.
Above posts are the ideal solution though.

My welder is 180amp mma and tig welder someone did suggest instead of putting a three pin 13A plug on it I could put a blue 16A industrial plug on it so I can run it of generator and get adaptor for 13 A use not sure which option would work best as I want to get the most out of the power range

16 amp plug would be best on that.

If you fit a 16A plug to it then use a 13A-16A adaptor to plug it in then you might as well just have the 13A plug on the machine.
The soloution, if it does need a 16A supply, would be to have a 16A socket installed on its own circuit.

Althougn you can purchase welder/generator sets, I would check with the manufacturer's first before running a standard welding set off of a generator.
I also run a 180A mig welder on a 13A plug.
