Hi I'm currently doing an apprenticeship in electrical but i feel the company im with am not doing a lot anymore as they are lacking on work I'm looking to hopefully find another company wiling to take me on. My friend has recently left his electrical company to pursue a different career and his electrical company seemed really good they do all type of work including big control panels and motors which i find interesting. I've always liked the sound of his company and as he has left i was hoping if some of you can help me build a good CV so i can secure a place there before someone else. Here are some of my traits.

Have been Doing electrical for over a year and half.
Competent in most work i do (Always ask if i dont understand).
love to get stuck in and do work never want to stand about
eager to learn new things
have done many different types of work on my own
have done private work for relatives like DB Change and also have wired a hot tub.
Learned a lot in testing and inspecting
Also can write up test sheets on Amtech.(not sure to include this one?)

A while since I've provided a CV, but it's always handy to have one standing by and you can update.

Typically with the following paragraphs:

Your details, including contact numbers etc.

Profile (I'm a team player with a common sense approach to work, and the best thing since sliced bread).

Achievements (i.e. climbed Mount Everest).

Experience (jobs etc in reverse chronological order).

Qualifications.

Education.

IT skills.

Interests (drinking, eating ooohhh and running marathons).

References.

Some companies, now seem to like a covering letter with a CV. Which basically puts all of your CV into three or four paragraphs on one page. Seems they can' be arsed to look at your CV, and want it made easy for them.

There's loads of other different CV examples, here's a link to one;

You just need to adapt your CV, for your life experience. Good luck

I had to sort my CV out last year for a couple of job changes, as mentioned above for what to include. Try and sell yourself, But don't keep things relevant to the job. Focus on any transferable skills you may have, IT etc...Maybe mention what knowledge you already have? Also bear in mind not all your hobbies may be ideal to put on a CV, A future employer may look unfavourably on someone who spends all weekend drinking, Sitting in macdonalds car park and Wearing you sisters underwear. Gardening, Charity work and helping the elderly sound much better.

Also make sure your CV is well written, Check for spelling mistakes and make sure it all makes sense, Get someone to check it if you can. Make it well presented and no more than 2 sides of A4/2 pages. Also remember if you get an interview, Be smart, On time and polite. At your stage in your career a good employer will more than likely be looking for someone who is willing to learn, Committed and hard working.
