the overload on the started should have a dial on it that says Ir. It will have either a percentage of max current raing (so for exmaple 0.8 of In) or it will have exact current ratings. i would turn the starter to max, and then switch it on. measure the current and set the overload to 110% of that reading. Or another method is 110% of the FLA (which is written on the rating plate)

im sure on the dial it goes from .80 up to 1.2, i was told to add about 20% onto the 0.65Kw, so i set it to .80.
is that ok?

i was taught to add 10% and i believe that when a similar thread arose on here, that was the general consensus.

Are you sure on the 0.65KW part...never seen one...0.55 and 0.75KW??

Scratch that just found an Exx proof one.......agree with the 110% FLC

Was the dial preset to the maximum just to make sure you did make adjustments??

Re: need help on what settings to put in a D.O.S starter for a 0.65Kw three phase mot

yea it was set to the maximum and the assessor said about adjusting it to suit the motor

i haven't got one to hand but i would double check to make sure its not 0.65Kw/60Hz-0.55Kw/50Hz and i think you may have 2 different FLA specs, i may be wrong but i have definitely seen both on the same nameplate many times.

I really can't see a problem with it assuming there is a neutral there.
