Hi all,

I am after any wiring gurus who also know there way around relays etc.

This is what I am trying to do.

I have a 2 speed wiper motor in my vehicle. I am wanting to run a wiper stalk with the wipers.

I can get everything to work except for it to self park.

Now this is where I need some help. How the self park mechanism works as far as I know is that when the wiper stalk is turned to the off position what happens is the park wire on the stalk goes live which then allows the park mechanism to activate at park the wires. I don't think the wiper stalk as a wire for park, so I would most likely need a wire from a relay to go live when the stalk has been switched off.

I don know how to get the park wire to go live when the stalk is moved to the off position.

Now for some diagrams

This is the wiring diagram for the the stalk. There is only 3 wires that I do not have connected - one is a wire for a wagon (which I don't need) and the other is a green wire (which I am led to believe goes to an intermittent wiper relay)? and a white and blue wire.

Any thought how I can make a wire on this switch go live when it is turned off (even if the wire is coming from a relay??

Thanks
Jason

One of the terminals on the wiper plug will have constant 12v, when the motor turns, the internal switch will put 12v to another of the terminals, what you need to do is connect this switched 12v to the slow speed, through a diode, this will prevent a dead short when the wipers are next switched on. I've used this method many times on rally cars, that always gave a mix and match of stalk and wiper motor

Thanks, yeah I will try that. Everytime that I turned the stalk off, it would blow a fuse, I guess doing it the way I was doing it was creating the dead short.

Your park pin 3,would only need a fused, ignition feed, usually the wiper feed fuse,to self park.
The park feed powers the motor only until it is in park position, and then it stops unless or until another feed is switched.

The intermittent, only requires a pulse,to enable one wipe cycle, powered via the park feed.

All this is academic,if CanBus or other electrickery is employed.....like the French models that stop working when the bonnet is not fully locked ..... many a complete unit has been swapped, only to the issue,elsewhere...?

I guess the easiest way would be to run a supply from ignition /aux via a relay that drops the supply when the lights are on.
