hi everyone , great forum In 1999 , i completed my 4 year apprenticeship in electrical engineering maintenance, my company laid me off, they were moving the business to poland as they couldnt compete with the uk market and had 3 qualified sparkys in the meantime. I applied to other jobs but they always said i had too many qualifications or no experience after apprenticeship so i bit the bullet and went into a normal job to pay my way. Anyway 15 years later,i want to try again in installation. My qualifications are 236 PART 1&2, AM1 and eal nvq 3 engineering maintenance-electrical. I also have 16th edition regs but that void now. Have i left it to late to get back into electric or is there a course to jump start my career. My age is 35

get your 17th for a start. then 2394 and 2395. all these can be done evenings at college. average price per course is ÂŁ250 - ÂŁ300.

Thanks tel, another question/answer needed. Does it matter that I done a nvq3 in electrical maintenance , not a nvq 3 in electrical installation? Will I be able to work on site even if I passed 17th , 2394 & 2395 with nvq3 maintenance
