Hello,

Im still learning electronics, but have a few ideas i want to try and not to sure to go ahead so i thought id pop a query here and let you guys advise me..

Anyway, using a transistor im able to control LED's and verious of components using my computers LPT port...

The idea is to beable to control bedroom lamp in the room using a relay..

Relay:
10A 250VAC
12VDC

i can control the relay with the transistor perfectly fine, but would it be ok to place a lamp that is on the mains directly to the relay? would it work fine?

yes the relay has a 10a mains switching capability, it can handle around 3000w of standard household bulb if your bedroom is big enough.
Remember the control voltage i.e 12v is segregated from the mains switching poles within the relay but catastrophic failure does occur very very rarely and a pc is a very expensive 12v source .
Happy switching!!!!
