Hi, I have been let down by Nationwide Solar and MEP who have waited til the last minute to tell me they can no longer fit me in.

I'm after 15 solar panels to be supplied, fitted and registered before 12th Dec, located in Hull. I wish to waiver the 7 day cooling down period to speed things up.

Do you really just want any old installer to slap them on your roof? People are reluctant to look at the benefits of a 21p tariff but they're willing to pay through the nose for a 43.3 system. Think about the benefits;

*Power back to you as the consumer with far more freedom to pick a good installer and select the products you want rather than just whats available.

*far more competitive price, far smaller initial outlay to achieve the same kwp system.

I've heard people signing up before the changes to get a 6/7% return on investment because they're obsessed with 43.3p!! we're offering returns of 14% on some of our 21p tariff systems. If you can get someone good to fit you in at a fair price for the install then fair enough but dont get carried away.

dont have a system then, let your money go backwards in a bank earning interest rates of 2% net at best unlinked to inflation. People seem to forget that for most of 2010 thousands people were having systems installed for double the rate of what they are now, any installer worth their salt are busy installing systems.

Redmile? You are not serious? 14% return? I've done my sums and I'm struggling to get it to 10% returns for my customers.

Are these cheap panels and cheaper inverter jobs?

I did not mean to sound cheeky, what I meant, if I was looking for payback 7-8 years at the current rate, then I'll still be looking for payback 7-8 years with the new rate

I suggest you go to the MCS website, search for a local installer in your area and phone them directly tomorrow. I've had a few latecomers approaching me but I've turned them away but other companies may be prepared to book in a late job if you ask nicely.

3 working days and 2 of the weekend and have to get the FITS pack to you r supplier before midnight on 11th.

Tall order I think. Is 43.3p truly worth any cost?

Would seem so - ive booked a job in today, lady was keen as mustard and i tried my hardest to book her in for Jan/Feb.

One of my calls was from a guy who wanted panels installing on a flat roof by Friday. He didn't seem to realise that there might be structural or planning permission issues. He came across as rather offended when I declined to visit telling me that he would phone around in the expectation of finding installers who might be more co-operative than me.
