Hey guys, I'm installing a water heater that needs a 240 but no slots open (which I've dealt with before), but this system/ setup looks really old!
I just want to get a little advice before moving forward (need to install a 240v/ 2pole breaker for the water heater)
*Manufacturer recommends 6guage (6-2 to be specific).

-Any advice helps
Thanks in advance!!!

I hate to be the one to tell you this but it appears that it’s time for a panel upgrade. Federal Pacific is a very old panel and other than changing the panel take any double pole breaker out and add a 2 pole 60 amp if you can find one and then install a sub panel to serve the water heater and the breaker you take out. Good luck

I appreciate it!
I was thinking the same thing but was crossing my fingers that I could save my mom a little money.
