yeah its just for a light, i find it easier some times just to loop a t+e in at the switch and a switch wire t+e up to the light. i always taught this was find but was told today it wasn
 
Depends on the job really, if its a house (t&e) then i three plate. If its a flat (conduit) i two plate but take neutral to rose. I have two plated at the switch on many occations but normally if i can only get one cable to rose due to routing problems, so i can keep the run down.
 
cant see a problem with jointing a neutral behind a switch.....is it in a barrier/enclosure?...earthed if class 1 (knockout box....or in a class 2 enclosure (appleby box)?........yes it is....or it should be......
