. . . the lengths that competitors will go to, to smear your name with dirt, and then dishonestly describe your work as dangerous so that they are handed all remedial works on a plate.

This goes back nearly 2 years. Extension for a house, Needed new board, as well installing new circuits, installing main and supp bonding. Electricity board put in a new distribution head. All the work looked great. It was all tested, etc given the thumbs up.

Last week . . . a rival company went in, giving code 1's ( meaning dangerous . . . or as good as . . . requiring immediate attention ) to a list of items. For example, undersized tails, undersized earth, non-existant main bonding, a lack of continuity on the ring circuits present in the property, a 3-core SWA for which the armour hadn't been earthed.

One of our designated I&T guys, and the Boss, went to the property to witeness these code 1s.

Having had feedback today, their report has been completely blown out of the water. The installation is as godd as it was when it was initially I&Td. This rival company have so blatantly shot themselves in the foot. Pictures and evidence has been taken which proves their report to be 100% inaccurate.

All that effort to get work off a client . . . that didn't need doing.

Of course . . . as both companies concerned are NIC registered . . . a dust strorm has just blown up.

So . . to all you good guys out there, keep all your records safe. There are a bundle of bad guys out there who'll steal whatever they can from under your feet, and ruin your reputation.

Had a similar sort of experience a few months back.

A firm completed a PIR for a client in a commercial property and left the client with an unsatisfactory PIR and a list of code 1 & 2's.

This client then contacted the company that i work for to carry out the remidial work and then issue a PIR.

As i carry out the majority of our PIR's i called in basically to have a look and make up a material list for the install guys. When i looked at the supply and earthing arrangements i found all to be in order so i spent some time and went through the defect list. It was completly fabricated as after 2 days testing there was only one code 1 defect a blank missing from a dist board.

The client refused to pay for the 1st report and is taking legal action against the other company. I suppose that they automatically thought they would get all the "remidial works" and make some money for nothing.

Absence of correct labelling is a C3, reversed polarity is a C1 (BPG-4). You choose.
