I started my apprenticeship in september when I was 16 working on domestic maintenance repairs, but have been told I can't complete my NVQ lvl 3 just doing domestics.
My employer is going to see if he can transfer me to new builds

I just wanted to know if anyone can give me advice on how to act on new build sites, and what it would be like as a 17 year old

That is a load of tripe, You may not get all of the experience to make it easier to complete but there is no restriction. I was in a similar situation back in the day but completed the NVQ just fine
I was thinking it was a load of rubbish, i think its just my boss trying to palm me off so my wages don't come out of his budget

Seems like rubbish to me mate. As Tel said, act like you would do on any job. There will likely be other younger people and other apprentices if it's a big company you work for. You have nothing to worry about.

what's the difference in new build and already built domestic. industrial experience is of a lot more use. for now just go with the flow but keep your options open.

You will receive a lot of banter but try not to retaliate. Just take a bit of stick and then it should stop when they get bored.
Also try to work Witt the old boys! They will teach you all they know!
