I just finished a rewire in Wales for a friend of mine. Dad came with me to finish a few bits as i wanted to get back home and out of wales. Anyway the board i fitted was a Legrand (supplied by customer) fitted with RCBO's. Because he could only get a dual split load unit i just took out the 2 rcd's and moved the main switch from the right to the right of the board. tested each circuit as i went along as this was easier as it was very tight in the board as it was a 14 circuit system. Everything tested out perfect (as normal !) so power turned on and carried on tests. when it came to Zs tests the first on was on the kitchen sockets. it came up with no earth. didnt make sense. TT system with earth rod all tested ok. Puzzled for a while until my father mention the meter tails going into the main switch !! oops. because i had moved the main switch from the right to the left the bottom connections were different but i had put the top meter tails as they should go. blue to N and brown to L. on the botttom was different because of the change i had made. after this ahd been sorted i thought i would just press the test button of each RCBO and reset them to make sure they work ok. BIG mistake. three of the RCBO's would not reset back up. thinking it was something i had done even though all tests were ok, i put that circuit on a good working RCBO. Perfect. call Edminsons where the RCBO's came from and they said they have never had a problem even though they have only been out for about 6 months. anyway they changed them over and i came back put them in and all new worked. just to be sure i pushed the test buttons again. low and behold another 2 would not reset back up. extreamly annoyed by now i called edminsons again and they didnt believe me so gave me the technical number for legrand. the guy there said they may of been a bad batch. Had absoloute nightmare with edminsons about it. they gonna get there rep to go round the job to have a look. They really made it out to be me. A**eholes.
So just be careful guys if you are using any legrand CCU gear as they might be a load of ****
