Hi All,
I am adding new sockets, switches and light fittings to a refitted industrial unit. The existing 3 phase board looks about 40 years old with catridge type fuses. Can I connect a new single phase board to this using one of the existing ways via a 63 amp cartridge fuse?.Also I can pick up the existing power radial feed, can I reuse this. The old lighting circuit was spurred off the power radial can this also be reused as a supply source.I have pointed out to my employer that it would be better to install a new ring and seperate lighting circuit, but for the sake of speed cost etc and ease of installation I have been told to connect to the original supplies.Your views please,Thanks.

"It works" and "it's safe" are not necessarily the same thing. With DIY work, they are often far from the same thing.

The 3A fuse is there to protect the current lighting. For additional power you connect from the non protected 3A fuse side.
