As the title says.
Old fusebox in a cabinet in kitchen, dno's board fills the cabinet, old skeleton fusebox currently located just above the board.
Is it a no no to mount the new cu on their board?

Errrrr, the width of the replacement Skeleton CU's are governed by the width of the cabinet!!

Well i've installed 3 such Skeleton boards (Parents house, Sisters house and a friends house) 2 Crabtree boards and one Wylex board. None of them were any problem installing whatsoever!!!

I take it that you have at one time or another, just mounted a standard CU above the Mantel cupboard rather than doing the job properly with a Skeleton CU. I bet it looked wonderful in the customers house/flat!!

I wasn't talking about skeleton units, nor did I mention any at all.

And no I have never taken a board outside of a mantel unit.

Are you saying you cannot mount a DB in the dno cupboard? Rubbish it's your property, your house they just use that particular area to mount there meter / incoming supply nothing they can do about it.

Maybe maybe not!! I can vagually remember a binding agreement that the old Regional boards came too, to allow these Mantel cabinets to enclose their cutout and metering equipment. The agreement was that an angled mounting plate was provided for the service cut-out and a fire resistant board be provided to the centre section for the use of Electricity board use only (eg, metering etc).

I can still remember a EEB (Eastern Electricity Board) notice on that fire board, basically stating the very same thing!!!

Then make yourself clear on what you ARE talking about!! The subject matter of this thread IS about Mantel Cabinets and Skeleton CU's FFS!!

And it is also about mounting CUs on DNO boards, which is what I'm talking about, it's not my fault you rushed into trying to be funny, take the **** and assuming that I was a Electrical Trainee talking about my roughness.

And that was probably down to thinking that my comment about the crap eal testing qualification was meant as truth and not sarcasm.

In this thread up until you posted, ONLY in relation to Mantel Cabinets!! As i stated above Make Yourself CLEAR on what you are talking about, if and when you are straying away from the Subject/Topic matter!!

When you post a Sarcasm, try adding a smiley or something. As i also stated above, there are far too Many here where that kind of statement would be actually their real belief. Adding a smiley would take you out of that camp!! lol!!
