With EICRs replacing PIRs i thought i would start using them but am confused by the new codes
If the installation is safe but does not comply with the new regs (the old code 4) do you put it as C3 requires improvement or just a tick.

To my mind, the new codes mirror the old codes, except that code 3 is now done away with.
So that would be C1 = code 1, C2 = code 2 and C3 = code 4.
What would have been considered a code 3 now has the option of a tick box for whether further investigation is required.
The ESC make a big deal in their BPG about the fact that we are not required to make observations about non-compliances that are not dangerous, or potentially dangerous.
I don't know why they make such a big deal about it, as it's not a new thing, there's not a great deal of difference from what was required in the 16th, to what is required now.
Certainly no difference from the pre-ammendment 17th.

Perhaps the change is that they want people to do them properly now?

Perhaps I'm cynical, but I think the ESC have just realised, that quite a lot of their BPG for PIRs was incorrect, and they've just re-hashed the old BPG, corrected some of the mistakes and re-labeled it.
