You’d need the appropriate masonry attachment for the tool you are using. Also very dependent on how hard the brick is. May be easier to pin drill the area you want to remove and the use a masonry SDS attachment to clean up the edges.
 
in conjunction with a SDS drill with rotary stop. easy peasy:
