new fuseboard install question

very quick question.

i'm putting in a new fuseboard and am wondering if i legally have to test all the reinstated circuits, also if premises has no gas or water bond am i now obliged to wire those too.

Also the official line is if there isn't any bonding present and it not been agreed to be done, the CU upgrade shouldn't be done. Reg 131.8, BS 7671.

I think by the fact that everyone has mentioned its notifyable and others mentioning "Prison" should make the person think twice if inexperianced or a DIY'er. Not only that the endless list of short answers dosent give too much away.....

As Churchill would say OOOOHhhhhhh yesss , its not as easy as it looks , if you cut the seals on the suppliers fuse its a criminal offence , you must notify the work , it must be fully tested in accordance with BS7671 2008 or amended , you must be compiant to carry out the work (when looked at this means suitably qualified) and must be tested using an approved tester with up to date calibration certificate and all bonding must be installed ............ my answer is for what it costs get a proffesional spark in to do it ,could be cheaper in the long run

Yes and Yes, its a major safety point. The tests show up so many problems and the certificates are legal document and required. You would hate to kill someone or cause a fire through not doing a few hours of testing.

Industrial sparks taking on the less technical sector of domestic installation work are sometimes left trailing with whats required of them in that sector,they dont study the regs quite as well as they might otherwise

You are required to test all circuits to determine they are safe to re connect
You have noteed the lack of protective bonding and they would need installing as part of the consumer unit change
To remind you,this job comes under the nonesense of part p and the procedure for that is sometimes followed by non registered sparks in order to continue doing the job you were trained to do unfortunately,if you are registered all well and good

I would ask the question, if you are asking that question should you be doing the CU change?

I think Des 56 has answered the question, is cashnokite competent of changing a cu. His question was the legal requirements in our wolrd of such work. Only thing I can add, if you get an electrician in to inspect and test, may be cheaper (easier than diy, safer) than to pay the lbc. Just a thought.

being part p approved oes not entitle you to test another electricians work unless you have done the work together and they are employed by your company.
I know someone who was involved in the design of a massive commercial development in london who had to have work done on his own house as he was not part p go figure.
