Just a quick question.

New garage is 3m away from the house. 2 sockets, one 3kw heater and a light. I will be running power to the garage in SWA to which will be buried to correct guidelines and entering the garage through ducting then in trunking to the cu which will be RCD protected at the garage. the run all together is around 18m (have to clarify exact soon) from the cu in the house to the cu in the garage.
as not having onsite guide to hand what is recommended cable size and breaker which I should put it on in the house?

Would you recommend breaking the ring in the house drill out the back of the socket straight to the garage (swa to underground guidelines) then having 2 fused spurs for the heater and light. the ring i will be splitting is rcd protected. customer is trying for this as not wanting a big trench dug. I dont like this idea but if done correctly there isnt a problem?

Thank you

Well straight away you will have discrimination conflict with the house and garage RCD.

Why have you suggested putting the SWA into trunking, is is an aesthetic reason?

Sorry you have lost me a little you are talking about CU 18 mteres and then talking about breaking into the ring final, are you wanting to know if it's best to take a distribution circuit from the CU or a spur from a ring?
