New guy after much needed legality advice!

S

SparkAlarm

Hi all,

I currently have a massive headache regarding being an electrician! Lol

I have done my apprenticeship 3years nvq3+4 2330 etc plus I have my 17th, for the past 4 years I have been working in alarms (lightweight stuff lol)

The current alarm company I work for do emergency lighting and odd mains work, we test everything and self cert etc, but I have been on to them to get registered with nic or eca etc,

The question is are we ok to carry on self certing? Or is getting nic domestic installer the best way to go? Also do my qualifications account for anything? As in working on wiring ie my own house? My thoughts on it is that I would be fine working on any electics aslong as I get someone who has 2391 to cert it?

If someone can clear this up would be great!

I'm an electrician but feel like I can't touch a thing because of all the red tape!

How do they self cert etc. if they're not registered with a self certification scheme?
Also, is the work in domestic installations or commercial/industrial?
