Customer wants a light in their understairs cupboard, all there going to be is a single light and switch. I'm taking it back to the Consumer Unit, can I connect the new circuit to the existing Lighting MCB or do I have to install a new 6A breaker.

Thanks

You can if you wish add to existing breaker( billy bodgit styleeeeeee) or take out one of the existing lightong feeds and incorporate under stairs feed in this circuit -- if you see wot i mean.

you could connect it to the existing mcb , but is it not easier to just to take a feed from another lighting circuit or fused spur from a ring?

was going to take spur from ring, but decided not to as the nearest socket is a spur anyway. Many years of DIY taken place, do not want to disturb anything that don't need to be touched.Have been told by another spark that I can connect to existing lighting mcb. Not sure, so question asked.Think I will put in another 6mcb, got to be the easiest option...............or fit a a Battery Light!!:)

If you put a fuse in the spur you can still use that for your light.

you can go back to cu and connect it with existing lighting, you can do the maths! as for spur, you would need a fused spur to 3amps , cant you loop in to existing wiring instead? be much easier?

No to all. Also would require a means of isolation for PIV - pulling a fuse wouldn't be acceptable. I don't mean to seem disrespectful, but this...

I did consider this but ended up going with this one. I wired it inline with the lives and works great.
