Hello Sparkys..

I am filling out a Small Service connection for UK Power Networks for a replacment service as I am building a new house next year..

The story is this... The curent power cable is dangled across the street from a pole, and is feeding a 2 bedroom bungalow. This is going to be demolished and i need quote to bury the cable under the street from the pole etc...

The bit I am stuck on is how much power I will need ? I am building a reasonble sized 4 bed House... no swimming pools or any fancy stuff...

the question is what size in kVA should I be asking for ??

this is only for the quote, so nothing bindig at this stage, but i dont want to get cut short of power...

many thanks

Norm

Out of interest, who does the cable crossing the road belong to? If it belongs to you then the main problem is the highways department. If it’s the DNO you’re going to be paying £XXXX.

20KVA as suggested by Tel would be OK, but as has been pointed out the board may get twitchy about it on a OH suppy.
