Hi, my name's Simon
I'm originally from Kent but have moved all over the country and am now on Wiltshire/Dorset/Somerset border. I trained originally in agricultural engineering, but thanks to that being such a broad area and my varied work experience vs. my age (43), I was finding it very difficult to get work here. I'd always had an interest in electrics, from my dad who used to work for GEC-Henley, also from working with water pumps and vehicle electrics. I'd always regretted not getting any formal training in that area. So I decided now was the time to do something about it. I signed up for a domestic electrical installer course with Train4Trade Skills.
I have found it a problem putting aside time to do the work, there's always so much else to do. I originally came across this forum looking for inspiration and advice on tools, and it seems like a great resource and has inspired me to carry on. I've only just got around to introducing myself partly because I was worried how people might look down on courses like this one, also somebody who is changing their 'career'. Hopefully that isn't the case.
Cheers
Simon
